New director, associate director to lead Global Business Programs

Some new hands have taken the wheel at the Farmer School of Business Global Business Programs.
Nicole Collins (upper right) joins FSB as the new director of the program, taking over for Kim Suellau, who retired in June. For the previous two years, Collins has been associate director of global programs for Miami University.
“It’s an opportunity to dig deeper into specific programs, work with specific curriculums, majors, and faculty,” she explained. “To work with a smaller team and a smaller curricular focus, to really be able to look at international education from a business perspective, to provide really specific, enriching opportunities for students.”
Collins worked in residence life at Wake Forest University and as assistant dean of students for IES Abroad before coming to Miami. She is currently working on her PhD in educational leadership at Miami.
She has traveled widely across the world, but professed that Central and South America are her favorite places to go.
Collins said part of what attracted her to the Farmer School was how effective GBP already is. “I think there’s a really strong program in place already, which is part of what excited me about stepping in. It’s been very refreshing to come in with a strong portfolio of programs, with motivated students, and really dedicated faculty.”
“We’ll probably look to add more programs that meet specific student needs, probably looking at having more semester programs to give students longer-term opportunities through FSB,” she remarked.
Joining Collins as Global Business Programs associate director is Denver Miller (lower right), who was previously Associate Executive Director for the Center for International Business in the College of Business at Ohio University.
He brings more than a decade of experience in the design, implementation and support of academic programs abroad, particularly faculty-led programs.
Collins said she’s looking forward to interacting with FSB students and faculty, even if they aren't part of the global studies program.
“I always love to meet new people and hear about what they’re doing on campus. Even if our areas don’t line up, I’m just interested in a lot of different things.”
